The higher education department suggested two dates to the Karnataka government for CET 2009: April 26 and 27. This might seem to suggest that the education department is proposing that CET 2009 be a two day affair. According to the department these dates were selected after looking at dates of other competitive exams and to give students ample time to prepare for the CET.

There are some other proposals due to come up before the governing council:

• providing CET coaching to rural students
• adding additional building space for the Karnataka Examination Authority (KEA) to house basic amenities, including toilet facilities
• reservation of 10% seats in defence quota for Karnataka defence employees
• initiative to start counselling centres in Hubli and Gulbarga
